About the Pastor

To invite Pastor Marvis Frazier to an event click here.

Championship Ministries is a vision that Marvis had for many years. He wanted a ministry that would not just lead people to Christ but would encourage people to live life to the fullest regardless of adversity or circumstances. Often times he will say, "Rest if you must but just don't quit."

Marvis Frazier started boxing in 1976. He won every amateur tournament with an enviable record of 56 wins and 2 losses. In 1980 he turned pro and established a record of 19 wins and 2 losses.

He retired in 1989 after he won a unanimous decision over Philip Brown. He talks very emotionally in relating how his father, Smokin' Joe Frazier's loss to Muhammad Ali was what convinced him to choose boxing as a career.

He is no longer a boxer in the ring but now he is fighting the fight of faith. He works to motivate the incarcerated, men, youth and Christian athletes.

He served for more than two decades at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. Philadelphia, PA and was ordained in 2000.

Some ministries he has been involved in include:

  • Men's choir
  • Nursing home visits
  • Hospital visits
  • VA Hospital visits
  • Volunteering at homeless shelters.

For 13 years Pastor Frazier was a member of the Chuck Coulson Prison Fellowship. This ministry spread the gospel to inmates all over the United States. He has corresponded with thousands of prisoners over the years offering encouragement. He personally answers every letter from each inmate

The death of his young wife in 2000 left him a widow to rear two teenage daughters; this tragic loss strengthened his faith in Jesus Christ.

Whether talking to a Christian group or a sports organization Pastor has shared life experiences with a desire to encourage others who are experiencing similar situations.

His words at the Promise Keepers event went forth in order to let thousands of men know that it is not a display of weakness to love the Lord Jesus Christ and to live by His principles outlined in the Holy Bible.

In his losses as well as his victories he has stories to tell that deliver strong messages in formats that can bring tears to an audience's eyes or have them laughing in the aisles.

But his ultimate goal is to lead lost souls to Christ, uplift people with life changing Words from the Savior, and bring out the champion that is deep down in each and every one of us.
